The Hazardous Materials Section is responsible for the permitting of flammable, combustible and hazardous material storage vessel installations. The section permits and plan reviews the installation, repairs and modifications on underground storage tanks (UGST) and aboveground storage tanks (AGST) and related components. Additionally, the section regulates the sale and storage of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LP).
The section is responsible for testing qualified applicants for certification in one or all of the following UGST categories: (Installer/Remover), (Remover only), (Cathodic Protection) and (Tank liner). The section regulates the initial certification and the re-certification of UGST contractors. The Hazardous Materials Section performs fire/explosion investigations and hazardous material incident investigations.
